Gus Leighton Quartet Album Launch
On the 6th of December The Gus Leighton Quartet will be performing at Pablo’s Cocktails and Dreams to launch their new album “We’ll Meet Again.”
The album which was recorded live in the founders room earlier in 2025 is an album dedicated to Gus’s late Grandmother Freda and features songs written about her as well as pieces that remind Gus of her.
Gus and his quartet have been making a name for themselves on the Australian jazz scene with their performances of Gus’s
original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards.
“We’ll Meet Again” is the groups 4th album to be released with tracks off his previous album “From Day To Evie” receiving international recognition (with their performance or Prisoner Of Love being a featured song on allaboutjazz.com and with Gus’s original compositions being featured in the Australian Jazz Real Book)
Gus’ compositions are honest and emotionally charged, taking
influences from his musical heroes and built upon his experiences, his current life and hopes for the future. You can expect to hear ballads, hard swingers, cookin’ bebop and the occasional waltz in this local act comprised of some of Tasmania’s finest jazz musicians.

Wild Country ft Hank, Slim and Farrell
Hank and Slim hear half remembered hillbilly hits echoing through the ghost towns of rural Tasmania. Dad and uncles worked too hard, drank too much, shot rabbits and drove trucks. The bar room jukebox and Holden cassette tapes played hymns of heartbreak and loss beneath the rainy mountains. The sensitive man acts tough, the poor man struts like a rooster. A shot of whiskey with dry humor. Hank and Slim sing beside the old grave, lonesome together
